Numerical Analysis of Passive Piles under Surcharge Load in Extensively Deep Soft Soil

The three-dimensional finite difference method was used in this study to analyze the deformation and stresses of a passive pile under surcharge load extensively deep soft soil. A numerical model proposed verified by field test. horizontal displacements agreed well with results. This investigated pile-foundation soil interaction, transfer mechanism, excess pore water pressure (EPWP), resistance foundation results show that corner loading area developed large uplift deformation, while center settlement. lateral displacement decreased sharply increase depth increased load. negligible when exceeded 30 m. EPWP nonlinear way accumulated placement new lift. distribution earth shallow layer complex, negative value observed high due suction effect. proportion coefficient showed much smaller situation design code overestimated soil, which should be given attention for analysis laterally loaded structures
